Lento Drammatico (2010)

Instrumentation: Alto saxophone and piano

Duration: 6'

Dedication: Marc Ballard

Movements: One movement

Program Note: Lento Drammatico is an adaptation of the first movement of my Concerto for Alto Saxophone and String Orchestra, which was dedicated to and premiered by Lawrence Gwozdz. Due to the independent and self-contained nature of this movement (as well as owing to the enthusiastic encouragement of several saxophonists), I felt it would exist perfectly well as a relatively short, lyrical recital piece. The premiere was given at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music on November 20, 2010 with Marc Ballard playing saxophone and the composer at the piano.
